University of Hertfordshire Professor Shulamit Ramon-Shanin Met with FLAS Students

Professor Ramon-Shanin is a researcher and practitioner in social work and the widow of Theodore Shanin, the British sociologist and founder of the Moscow School of Social and Economic Sciences. During the meeting on May 15, Professor Ramon-Shanin spoke to students about Theodore and donated his books to our library.

Shulamit also gave a lecture, “Social Work in Times of War,” at the Auditoria Cultural Centre, organized in cooperation with the Pristanište Foundation. Students accompanied the professor on trips to Kotor, Bar, and Cetinje, as well as on walks around Budva.

Shulamit noted:

“I think that if Theodore knew about FLAS, he would be pleased.”

FLAS is one of many projects created by people from the Shanin community. This connection is important to us, as are the values advocated by Theodore Shanin — values that we now share with colleagues around the world.

If you would like to become part of our community, join us as a student or come to the Beach University this summer!
