In the lectures, we will explore how, over the past 150 years, the sociology of emotions has fought for its place, waging a battle on two fronts.
On the one hand, by offering sociological explanations of already studied affective phenomena: fear, anger, shame, guilt, joy, hatred, resentment.
On the other, by demonstrating that these seemingly irrational experiences play a role in maintaining social order no less important than rational calculation and “rule-following.”
Kumbor, August 30 — September 6
We will examine key media formats — news, interviews, investigations — and the basic principles of fact-checking.
Special focus will be placed on infotainment: learning how to present serious, hard-earned information in an engaging and accessible way.
Budva, August 23 — 30
A psychiatrist and an anthropologist, together with participants, will analyze one of the most fascinating and unsettling aspects of human nature — madness.
For psychiatrists, the patient exists within the framework of illness;
for social anthropologists, the psychiatric clinic represents power and control;
for the patient, it is fear and distress.
